I am looking at opening FLGS in Chico. I am daring to dream folks! I am already looking at places, and I will be dropping off applications on Monday for a awesome location. If I get this location the shop will feature:
- 2 8'x4' tables for wargaming or other shenanigans.
- A 4'x4' coffee table great for D&D or painting.
- Almost daily events for any system people are interested in.
- Low price guarantee on all special orders.
- Friday night LARP night occurring weekly.
- Full concession stand.
- LFG boards, leader boards, and weekly newsletters to keep people in touch with the community.
- Hours to accommodate weekday gaming! 3:00 - 10:00 PM (or later for planned events).
In fact we have a lot going on already, people have confirmed games with the following schedule:
Mondays: Blood Bowl the Badwell Cup
Wednesdays: Forgotten Realms D&D RPGA
Fridays: Vampire The Masqerade / Werewolf the Apocolypse (alternating)
Saturdays: Diplomacy / Catan
Sunday: Warmachine / Warhammer
What's nice about having all this room, is there is always space for open gaming! The only catch to all of this is in order to enjoy the events and space made by the shop, there would be a $10 / month membership fee. The good news is, that if you go to one event a week, that's $2.50 per week, and 4 hours of entertainment for $2.50 is the best deal you will find anywhere.
This is certainly a group effort, and I don't plan on making much money on this at all, in fact I will be keeping my job at ID while all this is happening. These events and the shop itself is going to be an effort of the community. "The shop" isn't putting many of these events on, instead it's gamers like you and me who want to be involved and create something fun for their friends. If anyone is interested in running an event and wants space tell them to let me know, we can always make room for planned events on the calendar.
This is exciting, I will be updating my LJ first and foremost with news and info, so if you are piqued by this modest undertaking watch here for information, as it spreads outwardly to my other social networking sites. Also, leave a comment! I am aiming for a launch date of February 1st.
